Applications for students from BiH

The selection process for awarding the UWC scholarship to students from Bosnia and Herzegovina is under the direction of the UWC National Committee of BIH. The selection process is based on completed application forms sent to the UWC Selection Committee within the period of the call for scholarships, usually published in December. Eligible students should be in their second year of high school at the time of applying. Students who are not citizens of BiH may participate in BiH selections if they reside in the country and have attended an accredited local secondary school for at least the previous five years. They must fulfil all the other requirements in the Selection Guidelines.

If you have any questions, please contact the UWC National Committee of BIH at bihnc@bih.uwc.org or the college Admissions Coordinator Amina Bašić at amina.basic@uwcmostar.ba.

As part of the call for applications, the selection process involves: evaluation of the submitted documents (first round), testing (second round), and an interview with the selection committee (final round), which is accompanied by activities such as workshops or collective guided activities of the candidates.

All parts of the selection are aimed at evaluating the level of general culture, personality, motivation, interests, skills, affinity with the ideals of UWC, and other characteristics of candidates.

The full scholarship for the full two years of education covers:

– Tuition fees
– Food and accommodation
– Examination fees
– Textbooks and stationery
– Project week costs
– All extra-curricular activities
– Health Insurance

Scholarships to the UWC Mostar are provided by our kind supporters.

Although lessons at the UWC Mostar are held in English, complete fluency in this language is not a requirement for selection. Knowledge of English at the time of application is not crucial, but is preferred. Students struggling with English will be assisted by teachers and peers, in order to ensure that it does not become an obstacle in achieving student’s’ potential.

– Hranu i smještaj

– Naknade ispita

– Udžbenike i školski pribor

– Troškove “Project week”

– Sve izvannastavne aktivnosti

– Zdravstveno osiguranje

Please note that the selection process and the nomination of candidates is done by the National Committee.

Applications for International Students - National Committee Selection Process

The NC system is one of the things that makes UWCs unique. There are national committees and selection contacts in over 150 countries in the world, so the majority of students can apply through this system. It is a unique system that enables students to be selected from within their communities and cultures.

The UWC National Committee of your country will be looking for the students who have the potential to benefit the most from a UWC experience. There will usually be a written application and some form of interview. You might also take part in group activities and community service, an examination, and perhaps even a weekend camp. Interested students should contact the National Committee of their country of origin or residence. The application process varies across countries to ensure that it is applicable and relevant to the local culture and educational system in that country.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, students do not apply directly to UWC Mostar, but rather through the National Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

More information about the National Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina can be found here

To contact your local National Committee and make an application, find the contact details here.

In case such a Committee might not exist in your country of origin, please contact the UWC International Office in London:

Applications via the UWC Global Selections Program (GSP)

The UWC Global Selection Programme (GSP) is an application route for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) for a limited number of places with no financial assistance. Currently, you can apply to UWC Mostar via this route.

Is the GSP route for me?

The GSP route is ideal if you’ve fallen in love with one or more specific UWC schools. However, you will not receive scholarships or financial assistance (if you would like to be considered for financial support, you should apply to UWC via the national committee route). Please be aware that you can submit only one application to UWC per academic year, either through one national committee or through the GSP.

Learn about school fees for specific schools on our Fees and Scholarships page.

GSP APPLICATION HANDBOOK

No matter which school you select, you’ll receive a challenging and exciting education. But each of our schools has its own distinct character and identity. So before starting your application, make sure you learn about our schools, and pick the destination – or destinations – that suit you most. We also encourage you to contact them directly to find out more about the campus, curriculum, extracurricular activities or available support.

EXPLORE OUR SCHOOLS

What happens after I submit my application?

Your application will be reviewed by our volunteer selection committee, and can take some time depending on how many applications we receive at the time and the availability of our volunteers, so please be patient. We will get in touch with you once your application review has been completed. You can also check the current stage of your application through the application portal.

During this time, you and your parent(s) or guardian(s) may be invited for a conversation with an admissions officer at one or more of the schools you have selected in your application. We also encourage you to contact the school(s) you have selected, to ask any questions you may have and to learn about the subject choices and facilities they offer.

If your application passes the review stage, you will receive an email from us with an invitation to attend an Online Selection Day. Please note that attending the Online Selection Day is part of the process and is not optional. The selection day will feature group activities, a project presentation, an interview, and an emotional well-being questionnaire. We use Zoom to conduct our Online Selection Day, so please ensure that you have access to a stable Internet connection and a device with a camera that allows you to use Zoom. The event will also be held fully in English, but you do not need to be a native English speaker to participate.

If you pass the online selection day process, you will receive an email informing you of your nomination to UWC and a request for you to complete our UWC General Medical Form, which we will need before we share your application with the school or college you have been nominated to. Please note that you will be nominated to only one of the schools on your list. You may be invited to have a follow-up interview with the Admissions Director or other faculty members of the UWC school you have been nominated to. After this, the Admissions Director of the school you have been nominated to will then decide to make offers to accepted candidates.

Any questions?

Applying via the UWC International Application Pathway (IAP)

Is the IAP the right route for me?
  • You are not able to apply through a UWC national committee (based on nationality or residency)
  • You are not able to pay full fees through the Global Selection Programme* and expect to need financial support
  • You have not applied to another UWC route in the same year

*If your family can afford full fees, you should consider applying through the Global Selection Programme

UWC International will check if you meet these criteria by asking you to complete an eligibility form, which will help them determine the best application route for your circumstances.

Please note that there are a limited number of IAP places and a limited amount of financial support available each year, so we encourage you to meet all the deadlines and, assuming you are eligible, to submit your application as soon as possible.

Application timeline

Applications for entry in 2026 will open for eligible applicants on 22 September 2025 and close on 27 October 2025.

Selection happens on a rolling basis, so submitting your application early increases your chances of success.

More information about the IAP can be found here: https://uwc.org/apply-ibdp/apply-via-uwc-international-application-pathway-iap/
